Freedom Isn’t Complete Yet — What’s Really Happening in Jerusalem Will Shock You

Freedom is not just the absence of slavery.
Freedom is the ability to choose—to give, to love “the other,” and even to overcome our inner instincts in order to believe in something higher.

Here in our communities, in the heart of Jerusalem, we speak about another layer of freedom.
Not abstract. Not theoretical. Real.

The freedom to purchase a home in any neighborhood of Jerusalem.
The freedom to walk safely through our alleyways at any hour—without guards.
The freedom for our children to play in parks, not on rooftops under the watch of security cameras.

We are a free nation in our G-d-given homeland. After 2,000 years of exile—marked by expulsions, pogroms, the Holocaust, and relentless restrictions—we have thrown off those shackles and returned home.

We are free.
And we are also free to defend ourselves.
Baruch Hashem.

And yet—even here in Jerusalem—there are still barriers before that freedom feels complete.
But something is shifting.
You can feel it.

We are beginning to leave behind what can only be described as a kind of “mini-exile” within our own city.

Nowhere is this more visible than in the Shiloach—once a thriving Yemenite and Sephardi Jewish neighborhood.

This story is not about slogans.
It’s about numbers.
It’s about presence.
It’s about life.

More Jewish homes being redeemed.
More apartments returning to Jewish ownership.
More children filling the alleyways of the Shiloach once again.

This is what redemption looks like—step by step, home by home.

Full freedom—even in the Shiloach—is no longer theoretical.
It’s a matter of time… and resources.

Help us make it happen.
